Pentecost window, St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol
Harry Stammers, c.1960
Visited St Mary Redcliffe today on my wander around Bristol and spent a long time looking at the stained glass in the Lady Chapel. Designed and installed in the 60s by Harry Stammers they show Christians throughout the ages as actors in Biblical stories. This is one of the smaller windows showing the Pentacost. I was absolutely bowled over by the designs, they’re so bold and with so much great detail and abstraction. It’s sadly difficult to find good photos of the detail at St Mary Redcliffe but you can see some of his other work here.
