Temple Meads, Bristol, 1991
I’m trying to get back into the habit of writing again so I’ve started a short story about someone who works at Temple Meads, he has obsessive characteristics and is stuck in a kind of regular stasis constantly terrified of when all the cogs will fall out of place and he’ll lose his continuity.
I need a plot device, something to happen to take him out of his comfort zone but I feel like a train crash is a bit obvious. I was thinking maybe one of the regular commuters he sees everyday throws themselves in front of a train off-camera (as it were) and … well, and what?
Any ideas?

a co worker gets stabbed in the under pass tunnels and people are now stuck on the platforms at the far side.
